Growing Green Earth Day Expo & Recycle Event – March 19

Celebrate the first day of Spring and bring your family to the Expo featuring green products, local vendors, career opportunities, environmental programs, services, energy issues and information, greening your home, lawn, garden and wetlands, green lifestyles, energy efficiency and conservation, hands-on activities and much more! Drop off your used batteries, light bulbs, scrap metal, Shred-It materials, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and electronics for recycling. Parking and entrance fees are free!

ReLeaf Michigan, Inc. Tree & Shrub Fundraiser

Orders will be taken through April 11 at (800) 642-7353, through the website at, or via email to Pick-up will be on Saturday, April 26 at Friendship Park, Porritt Barn, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. All trees are bare-root, single or multi-stemmed, 3-6 in height, shrubs are 1-2 in height, evergreens are 2-3 in height and selected for their ability to prosper in our area. Funds raised support future community tree plantings in Michigan. Bring large, heavy, plastic bags to protect tree roots during transportation. Trees are $34 each or 3 or more for $32 each. Specialty trees are $50 each. Shrubs are $18 each or 3 or more for $15 each. Evergreens are $15 each or 3 or more for $13 each. Tree Gators are $18/$20 (2 sizes). Tree Saver $5/3 oz. bag. Tree Guards are $4 each or 5 for $18. Ten pick-up locations to choose from. Pick-up date is April 26.


The Bunny Bop – March 29

Spring is in the air! Hop on over to the Orion Center for a photo visit with a special bunny, pancake breakfast, an egg hunt and a few other surprises. Bring your own basket for filling with candy and prizes. Youth will be broken down by age for equal opportunity hunting for all. Pre-registration required! Egg hunt will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather.

North Oakland Concert Band – April 20

The North Oakland Concert Band will hold a “Small Ensemble” concert on Sunday, April 20 at the Orion Center. 4-6 musicians will be performing a variety of musical selections. Admission is free, however donations are accepted to support the organization. Suggested donation is $5 per person. Light refreshments included.

Run Wild – June 17

Run Wild in Orion Township to support the free Concerts in the Park series at Wildwood. Approximate 1.5 mile run will begin and end at Wildwood and will follow the Polly Ann Trail north to the Orion Center and than back to Wildwood to kick off the concert series with the North Oakland Concert Band. All proceeds from Run Wild will directly benefit Wildwood and the Concert series. Whether you run, walk, jog or stroll, come on out and Run Wild! Shirts in limited sizes and amounts will be available on event day.
